Prayers for Rain

Bism Illah wa as salaamu alaykum wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh.

Two weeks ago we had a national prayer for rain. It is a very powerful thing to witness, and this is my second year to be here for it al hamdul'Illah. For those of you who don't know how it goes, schools will adjust their start times and people will adjust their work times to go to this prayer. All the masaajid hold the prayer and it is held shortly after sunrise.

Subhaan Allah, we pulled up to school as the prayer was going on and I could hear the dua' being made for Allah's forgiveness, mercy, blessings, and of course, rain. It brought tears to my eyes, because this is true tawakkal - total reliance on Allah with the knowledge that only He can bring the relief of rain to dry desert and life to the dead. Subhaan Allah, it is these things that strike me and remind me how fortunate I am to be in a country focused on tawheed. All thanks and praise to Allah, the Perfect Provider of all needs!

  1. I'm sure it must have been a powerful experience!! Water is indeed a valuable commodity... many countries at present involved in feuds just because of it! We know that with the passing of each day our share becomes less and less... Yah Rabb!!!

  2. Yes, true. The amazing thing was that the next day it was overcast and cloudy and I thought perhaps it would rain. It didn't, but subhaan Allah, the rain came today and is forecast for tomorrow as well. It is the most affirming thing when Allah answers prayers!

  3. Asalamu alaikum sister, i'm not sure if your husband got my message, but could you kindly pass on my details to him, im planning on moving over and need a helping hand if possible.

  4. as Salaamu aalaykum,

Oh, I asked my husband about this when you posted the comment and he said he was going to do something, and then forgot...Qadr Allah. I'll talk with him again today about it, inshaa'Allah, and get back to you. Bi ithn Illah, we will get this sorted out!

  6. As salaamu alaykum Tuttie.

Hubby is trying to get hold of someone at Umm Al-Qura for you to contact. However, did you check out this link?

It has the requirements and also the Application Form and contact details for them. Is that what you were looking for, or something more?

When commenting, fitnah is to be avoided at all costs, as the angels abandon those who argue and dispute."Who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." Barak Allahu feekum!
